Jeff Schinkel

Creative Director

Jeff Schinkel joined Kid Scoop full time in January, 2004 and currently serves as creative director. In this position, he is responsible for creating illustrations, graphics and page design as well as marketing materials for Kid Scoop. He began his career with Kid Scoop on a freelance basis in November of 1999.

Prior to joining Kid Scoop, Mr. Schinkel served as creative services director at ANG Newspapers (now Bay Area News Group) based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In this role, he was responsible for writing, designing and developing advertising campaigns and marketing materials to promote a chain of seven daily newspapers and their websites in the East Bay with a circulation of 230,000. During his tenure, the company acquired multiple newspapers and he supervised a staff of three designers and a copywriter. He also worked on several community service and promotional projects with the Oakland Athletics, Oakland Raiders, Golden State Warriors, Disneyland, Six Flags Marine World, and the Oakland Holiday Parade. He also designed materials for the chain’s newspapers in education department, including the award-winning Book Buck$ family literacy program. Prior to his 14 year career with ANG, Mr. Schinkel worked for DigiType, a graphic design and typesetting company in Fremont, CA for three years. His duties there included layout and production of a weekly TV magazine, logo design, and print ads for Kelly Moore Paint Co. and others.

Mr. Schinkel holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Academy of Art University, San Francisco. He has also won an ADDY Award from East Bay Admark as well as awards from the International Newspaper Marketing Association (INMA) and the National Newspaper Association (NNA).
