School’s out and summer’s almost here. Now’s the time to turn learning into earning! Young entrepreneurs will love launching their own neighborhood business during warm summer months, where their math and language skills can be put to work while they work! From pulling weeks and mowing lawns to cleaning windows or babysitting, there are plenty of ways to help others and get paid for your time. Before you know it, your dollars will multiple and help your bank account grow. Just look around for a need and figure out a service that will help. Then launch!
In this issue students will:
- read expository text about setting up a business
- use creativity and critical thinking to identify jobs kids can do
- practice problem and solution thinking and writing
- use the newspaper to hunt for and categorize businesses in your community
- use math skills to round money amounts
- add coins with different values
- calculate sums with money
