Agriculture Council of America produced "Fun Facts About Agriculture" where students can discover all sorts of neat information about fruits and vegetables, as well as animal husbandry topics. A Fruits and Vegetables Lesson Plan

Teachervision.com's "Fruits and Vegetables" lesson plan is a perfect autumn activity for elementary classrooms. Divide the class into groups to research autumn vegetables, fruits, and meats (including nuts). Students should look for what types of fruits, vegetables, and meats are available during the autumn months, how to best preserve or dry them, and recipes to prepare them. Each group writes a research paper, has a display of the fruits, vegetables, or meats, or pictures of their findings, and gives an oral report. Recommends websites for research.

It's still hot outside. Your kids are tired of the same-old Popsicle's. And you are tired of paying high prices for them. Here's a fun, inexpensive idea for a "Frozen Fruit Treat" from U.C. Berkeley's Recipe Source. Take a cup of strawberries, 1 large can of crushed pineapple, 5 bananas cut in cubes, a 12-ounce can of frozen orange juice concentrate and 1 1/2 cups of water. Mix the ingredients together then freeze it in small paper cups. Serve them up slightly defrosted.
