“While I don’t have any actual statements from teachers, we did have ALL of our elementary teachers who are currently receiving Kid Scoop eack week renew their NIE papers for next year. This is a first since they started the NIE program here. :) I think that makes it speak for itself!”

Testimonials

Kid Scoop About a month ago, I went to speak to a group of students in 5th grade. I always begin my talk with, "How many of you read the paper?" Every child raised their hand. I asked what they read and they all said Kid Scoop. This was one of our city schools and it thrilled me to no end!

Just want to share my pleasure with you. I am so excited about the response I'm getting for Kid Scoop. We've run a kid page for years, but I always had to really fish to get feedback! These days I'm getting mail from teachers every day with wonderful student writing (for the Kid Scoop Weekly Writing Corner) and great little notes about how glad teachers are for the new opportunities in our paper thanks to Kid Scoop. Hurray!

I started using this page in September and saw a 20% per month increase in my NIE circulation. It's versatile, time effective and encourages the use of the entire newspaper.

My Kid Scoop I wanted to tell you the latest part of the success of My Kid Scoop in our Tuesday paper. I called a fellow I dealt with in getting My Kid Scoop in our paper and asked him how the 8 resource centers liked getting the papers. Well, they LOVE it! It seems that the folks at these resource centers are using the paper in their ESL classes as well as enjoying My Kid Scoop! It doesn't get much better than that! I am really thrilled that it is going so well. Thanks for creating such a valuable teaching tool! And tell your artist I love his style!

Hanford Sentinel, Hanford, CA I have a huge number of pre-school and kindergarten teachers who use the newspaper. I do have curriculum and training workshops for pre-school and kindergarten teachers. There are excellent primary curriculum guides available from our vendors.

We use My Kid Scoop in half page color for reading readiness activities once a week. The feature also has a different readiness activity for each day of the week that takes children back to the newspaper with the teacher or with the family at home. Several of my teachers do the activity pages with the students on the day it is published and then send the whole paper home with the kids, asking the family to do the daily family activities. It is then a 2 for 1 because it improves family literacy and communication. The parents then see the newspaper as an educational tool. The teachers enthusiastically report that those kindergartners who use the newspaper at school and at home grow several grade levels in their vocabulary and reading skills in that one year. Director of Educational Services, American Press, Lake Charles, LA I have 3350 kindergarten students who receive our newspaper (actually our English/Spanish combo Ñ two newspapers) every Tuesday. We publish the My Kid Scoop page ( a reading readiness page for little learners) on Tuesdays but also train our kindergarten teachers on how to use the newspaper with their students.

This is the third year we've run a kindergarten program, and my K teachers and students love it!

Spanish Kid Scoop You'll be happy to know that the number of advance orders for copies of our Friday paper (Kid Scoop day) outdistance any other day by about 30%. Requests for bilingual Spanish material continue to increase. Thanks for helping us deliver!
