Weekly Writing Corner

“Thank you. Thank you for all that you have done for us this year. The children love, love writing and can’t wait to see what the next writing is every week. I hope some of them will continue to write in the summer and we will definitely write next year although I may be in a different grade next year. Again, thank you, thank you!”

School Submissions

Submissions on the topic of Spring Poems from 4th and 5th graders at Hawthorne School, San Luis Obispo, CA

Spring is a bright green carpet with a wildflower pattern.
It also has blue spots representing sparkly ponds under green trees.
Animals awake from their long resting sleep.
Grace

As you lay on the grass, moist from the rain.
Scent of flowers open my eyes.
Dreaming on flower, lily pads too.
Hearing the water splash in the pond.
The warm feel of the sun on your face.
Just listen, flowers are whispering names.
The open blue sky, birds fly.
As if there were no tomorrow.
Just wondering why.
Karina

Ah, spring. A wonderful season.
The flowers bloom and there’s morning dew.
Spring looks like sunset every day.
Spring feels like forever happiness.
Spring sounds like birds chirping.
Devlen

Spring feels like the warm sun beaming against my back.
Spring looks like the soft green grass under my shoes.
Spring smells like the sweet scent of the strawberries my mom just bought.
Andrew

Spring sounds like birds singing in the trees.
Spring smells like fresh flowers.
Spring looks like a new meadow.
Max

Spring is like the warm breeze in your face.
It looks like daisies growing in the fields.
It feels like the soft grass growing in the garden.
Shea

Spring smells like a brand new flower blooming.
It sounds like birds chirping in the morning.
Spring is the taste of the fresh air.
It looks colorful and beautiful.
And spring feels cool and hot in the afternoon.
Leslie

Spring looks like a room full of light.
Spring feels like a heat room.
Spring smells like strawberry ice cream.
Spring sounds like birds singing.
Spring tastes like vanilla flowers.
Karla
