Weekly Writing Corner

“Thank you. Thank you for all that you have done for us this year. The children love, love writing and can’t wait to see what the next writing is every week. I hope some of them will continue to write in the summer and we will definitely write next year although I may be in a different grade next year. Again, thank you, thank you!”

School Submissions

Submissions on the topic of State of Children from 4th and 5th graders at Hawthorne School, San Luis Obispo, CA

In the United States we have it all - houses, food, clothing and even money but in Africa, they have the opposite. They face starvation each day. They also face no education and bad weather. I hope to help these children in need.
Andrew

In Africa, some people don't have a house or food or water and they have to live in the street. Some kids don't have parents and live alone or with other kids that don't have parents.
Aldo

In the U.S.A., even the homeless have better lives than some people in Africa. In the U.S.A., the homeless get health coverage, education, care, and nutrients. In Africa, most kids don't go to school or have medicine when they are sick. Some families can't afford food, so they starve to death.
Shea

I feel really bad for people who are sick, hungry and can't afford food. We should start a foundation for people in need.
Betsy

Compare America with Africa. If you think they are the same, you are wrong. In Africa, kids are suffering because they don't have enough food to eat and some grown-ups die from not eating. Think about it!
