Weekly Writing Corner

“Thank you. Thank you for all that you have done for us this year. The children love, love writing and can’t wait to see what the next writing is every week. I hope some of them will continue to write in the summer and we will definitely write next year although I may be in a different grade next year. Again, thank you, thank you!”

Submissions on the topic of My Cat from 5th Graders at Sinsheimer School, San Luis Obispo, CA

If I had a cat, my cat would have brown fur. The cat's eyes would be like blue crystals in the night sky. The cat would be as nice as hot chocolate in the cold winter. In the dark, you could always find him because his eyes would shimmer like a snowflake. That is what my cat would be like.
Jacob A.

I would want a female cat. That is white and fluffy. Her name would be Miss Marshmallow. She would sleep in my room by the window. I would get her a turquoise blue bed to go with her white fur.
Brianna H.

If I had a cat, I would want it to be a kitten. It would be orange with white stripes and have an amazingly cute black patch around its eye. I would like it to be a girl, and would name it Tigerlily. She would be a fantastic kitten and I would love to have a cat like that some day.
Kailen E.

My cat's name is Pearl. I named her Pearl because of her snow-white fur coat. It shines in the yellow sun. Her eyes are sky blue with a touch of ocean blue. Pearl's nose is pink as a rose. The meows are a perfect harmony.
Nicole K.

My cat's name is Claire. Her nose has a flare.
She is just fine, but she doesn't whine.
She has big, yellow eyes, like she's in disguise.
She's as cute as a button. We were cutt'n her fur.
I love her so much. She was drinking fruit punch.
I would never, ever hurt her, even if she burped.
I love my cat, way better than a hat!
Emma W.

If I had a cat, I'd put it in a hat. It came out orange like Cheddar cheese. His name was Cheddar. When he scratches the pad I knew he was a tabby cat. His pink little nose twinkles like the sun. Just like his eyes glitter like the moon. That's when I knew he was the perfect cat.
Grace P.

My cat's name is Snowflake. She is as white as snow, that's why we named her Snowflake. She likes hopping up on the fence and meowing down at us. When she's near her bowl meowing, that means she's hungry. She's fun to play with and she loves to be petted. That's my amazing cat, Snowflake!
