Lessons and Activities
mothersforcleanair.org/aqinfo/lessons.html
Mothers for Clean Air have performed a great service for folks (citizens, teachers, and children) wanting to learn about clean air. The top link takes you to the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, which has posted 30+ lesson plans. The next two links go to EPA sites. Keep scrolling down and clicking to find science experiments and a whole host of additional lesson plans.
Environmental Protection Agency

The Environmental Protection Agency created a splendid Clean Air Month destination for teachers and students. Their home page has all sorts of spots to click aside from the kids and teachers buttons. Check out the Environmental Club Projects, the Careers, Internships and Scholarships, the Environmental Youth Awards and the Fun Activities. And that’s just for starters.
All About Smog
arb.ca.gov/knowzone/knowzone.htm
The Know Zone, a creation by California Air Resources Board, has neat stuff for kids, students and teachers about the air we breathe, air pollution and how to keep the air clean and healthy. If you live in California, check out what’s specific to there. Otherwise, start clicking on Kid Stuff (coloring book, etc.), Student Stuff (All About Smog), Teacher Stuff (learn about idling school busses).
Air Activities

Click here for a couple of games about air quality created by Environmental Protection. You can play online if your computer has Flash software. Otherwise, print out the games to play them, although they seem more like a quiz than games when printed.
Ozone Experiments

The Spokane [Washington] County Air Pollution Control Authority have a great site for schools. Contents include; a general introduction to air, what to look for to tell if the local air is clean, a simple explanation of air quality, fun and games, teacher resources, and links to related K-12 sites. Some of the content is specific to the local (Spokane) area, but the site is generally very informative.
