http://www.newhorizons.org/strategies/multicultural/freed.htm
Audience: Elementary School Teachers

New Horizons for Learning presents "The Story of Annigan," an Inuit legend from Greenland. Annigan was a moon god who continually chases his sister, Malina, the Sun goddess across the sky. During this chase, he forgets to eat and he gets much thinner. The directed activity by Andrea B. Freed, Ph.D. supports a science curriculum. Review the summary, materials, procedure, evaluation and extensions before you start.

Audience: Elementary to Middle School teachers and students

Here's a good place to begin exploring Greenland. Start with "Where is Greenland?" Then open the map for more details. Here you can learn the differences among glaciers, ice caps and icebergs and check out the iceberg sketchbook. Some people live in geodesic domes because heating and cooling is more efficient when there are few or no corners where heat may be trapped. You can even figure out the distance from where you live to Greenland.
