June welcomes summer with a month of celebrations. From grads to dads to American’s flag, there’s plenty in store! June 14th is the birthday of our nation’s flag. Over two hundred years ago the country’s founders approved red stripes, white stripes, and white stars on a field of blue to symbolize the U.S.A. Flag colors are carefully chosen to communicate values we hold dear as a country. Learn what these colors mean, and how sailors use flags to “talk” between ships at sea. When you’re ready to set sail, you’ll design a flag of your own for that special dad, grandad, uncle or friend in time for Father’s Day – celebrated on the third Sunday of June in the United States. Include a heartfelt note of thanks with your custom flag and you’ll be ready to show how much you appreciate that special father—or father figure—in your life.
