Counting Your Change

← Continue shopping

Learning to count change is a life skill that all young economists and future entrepreneurs should master. Practice using real coins as you work through this issue and its “change challenges.” Differentiating between coin values, counting by 1’s, 5’s, 10’s and 25’s, adding money amounts and practicing mental math are some of the skills exercised through counting change activities. Grab your jar full of “cents” as your student makes “sense” of money matters.

In this issue students will:

  • count using coins
  • calculate change to nearest dollar and cent amount
  • differentiate between coin values
  • match coins to prices of items
  • use the newspaper to locate and sort prices from low to high
  • write a unique math problem using money amounts
