de-veteransNovember 11 is a special holiday that honors men and women who defended our nation’s freedom by land, sea or air. Men and women of all ages who’ve served in any of the military branches—Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard—are “veterans.” On Veterans Day people around the country participate in parades, ceremonies and speeches. Pausing to recognize those who’ve served is our nation’s way of saying “thank you” to these special citizens. Helping students understand the meaning of national holidays contributes to a sense of civic virtue, pride and patriotism and helps build a stronger nation. Join us as we salute our nation’s heroes.
