Astronaut Woodward has steered his spacecraft to fly near Venus for a closer peek at Earth’s nearest neighbor. Although lovely to look at, Venus is a dangerous and deadly place to explore with an atmosphere of poisonous gases and surface temperatures that would melt our ship. Shrouded in toxic clouds, Venus remains a mystery to study from afar, but scientists can observe that it spins very slowly and in the opposite direction of the Earth which accounts for some “weird” features! Discover why the sun rises in the west and a day on Venus lasts almost as long as an Earth year! But don’t leave the safety of the spaceship to explore further as Venus is one planet that is best admired from a distance.

In this issue young astronauts will:

  • Read expository text about Venus
  • Compare planet facts
