You’ll travel the solar system for seven days with different newspaper adventures daily beginning with weird and intriguing facts about the planets. Complete the first leg of your journey to earn your “sun badge” that lets everyone know you’re a Super Star Reader. Next, scour the news for numbers to calculate the immense weight of asteroids orbiting our sun. Day 5 sends you on a newspaper scavenger hunt to find pictures and articles to share with aliens illustrating life on Earth to share with aliens you might encounter. Then compare satellites orbiting our planet to other natural and man-made objects in the news. Wrap up your solar system journey with a newspaper word search to write a “space-y” sentence to remember the names of the planets in order. By the end of the week, you’ll have made “space” for reading every day, navigated the solar system from Mercury to Pluto, and had a blast blasting off!
