Some say the great American scientist George Washington Carver invented peanut butter. Others say it was invented in 1890 when St. Louis doctor Percy L. Crosby, created it to give his patients an easy-to-digest, high-protein food. By early in the second decade of the 1900s, there were dozens of companies making peanut butter.
