Pecos Bill, one of America’s most beloved cowboy characters, provides a hilarious introduction to the charm of tall tales. Set in the Old West, Bill’s stories embody the frontier spirit of a growing nation. Young readers will love separating the probable from the improbable as they follow Bill’s wild adventures from being raised by coyotes, to rounding up a cyclone singlehandedly, to turning a rattlesnake into a cowboy’s important piece of gear. He’s even credited with creating a brand new river to being water to a thirsty country.
