This intriguing issue takes a look backward in time to highlight a critical message about global awareness, and how one person’s efforts made a healthy difference in the lives of millions worldwide. Although the polio vaccine had been in use for more than 30 years, not all countries had the same rates of immunization. This changed in 1988 with the vision of one doctor in the Philippine Islands who combined forces with the International Rotary Club.
