Talk About Teasing

← Continue shopping

Teasing can easily turn into bullying, and when that happens, someone’s feelings will get hurt. This issue is designed to start a conversation with youngsters about how to treat others with kindness and care, and what to do if feelings are hurt by teasing or bullying. Students will identify whether teasing is fun or painful, think about a time when they were teased (or teased someone else), and what to do if someone else is the target of teasing or bullying. Knowing what to do wan how to behave will better prepare stunts for situations where they may need to take action for themselves or someone else. An ounce of prevention will be worth more than a pound of care!

In this issue students will:

  • Read informational text about teasing and bullying
  • Use oral communication skills to discuss bullying and teasing
  • Think about something funny to say that is not hurtful
  • Differentiate between teasing for fun or teasing that hurts
  • Learn what to do in response to teasing
  • Use the newspaper to locate parts of speech for silly sentences
  • Solve for missing digits in equations
  • Share an article with a buddy to discover similarities and differences in opinions and point of view
  • Write an anti-bullying advertisement
