Basketball, volleyball, baseball, tennis, golf, hockey, soccer—it’s hard to imagine any sporting competition where girls and women can’t compete in today’s world! But it wasn’t always welcoming for female athletes to participate. Years ago there were restrictions that applied only to women! Thanks to the persistence, determination, and commitment of women in the past, today’s females are able to compete in sports as both amateurs and professionals. In 1972 benchmark legislation known as Title IX validated their efforts! Be inspired by stories of some of the greatest athletes who changed the course of history and helped girls everywhere live happier, healthier, and more active lives.
