Camel Beauty Competition

Most people wouldn’t consider that camels are beautiful. But at King Abdulaziz camel festival in Saudi Arabia, “beautiful” camels compete for prize money that can reach $66 million.

The month-long festival includes camel races, breeders selling their camels and other events that celebrate the traditions of Bedouin traders.

But this year, scandal hit the festival as it was discovered that physical alterations, definitely not natural, had been used to enhance the aspects of the contestants.

Winners are judged by assessing their appearance including heads, necks, humps and posture. More than 40 camels were disqualified when it was found that their looks had been altered by the use of hormones and Botox injections. Cosmetic facelifts are now considered totally banned from the events.
