SearchMillions of Students Run to Raise Money to Fight Cancer
Every September millions of students around the world run in the Terry Fox Run to raise money to fight cancer.
Canadian students make up the biggest number of runners. That is because the run started in Canada, in 1980, when a young athlete named Terry Fox decided to run across Canada even though he was dying of cancer.
Even though he didn’t finish his run, he raised money and inspired others to continue to do the run every year. To date nearly $700 million in Canadian dollars have been raised.
Terry Fox showed everyone that the impossible is possible. His memory serves as a reminder that anyone can make a difference in the world.
